Program Allotment at the time of PI creation

Hi All,

I have a question around the program allotment section during the PI creation process.

When the initial details are added & after the first save, a number of tabs get enabled on the PI creation screen.

On the program, products and regions tab, if a PI is going to be shared across multiple programs, we can add additional programs/ARTs to the PI, but then there is also a section around program allotment

Could someone please remind me that that is about? Is that to specify that for a budget that can be allocated to a PI, what proportion of that budget is allocated to various programs who are sharing the PI?

Also, does this have any implications on the investment vs actuals view or any other Jira Align reports or screens, from a JA financials perspective?

@Mit Tolia Yes this takes the budget you allocated for the PI and allocates a certain percentage of it to those programs.  This is used for the Funding Plan Report.

Allocation on the PI report should add up to 100% and as Jennelle stated gets used on this report.  https://help.jiraalign.com/hc/en-us/articles/115005247387-Funding-plan

Would the allocations we do here on the program allotment screen have any potential impacts on how the investment vs spend values get calculated and represented i.e. the investment & spend calculations would predmoninantly be based off the Epics & feautures being planned and sized as (S, M, L and then estimation conversions for the investment) and then from a bottom up perspective, the stories & their relative story points bubbling up and providing the spend view, assuming the configurations is based on blended rate.

Just asking this question to understand if these allocations should be consistent to other areas where apparently we can specify the budgets.

@Mit Tolia The allocations on the program allotment screen don't have any impact on the investment vs spend report.  The allocations on that report come from setting the Theme guardrails (button on the top right of that reports page).  Here is some additional info about setting the theme guardrails:   https://help.jiraalign.com/hc/en-us/articles/115000220273
