Moving Epics from one program to another

Linda Redgate January 26, 2023

I need to split a program in Jira Align into 2.  Ideally I need to move the epics, with their children (Features) to the new program.

Both are linked to Jira where the stories, tasks etc are held.

If I move the Epic that works but the Feature linked to that Epic remains with the original program.

I have moved the feature in Jira to the new project linked to the new program but the feature remains in the original program.

How do I resolve?

Figured out that we were missing the Production Jira connector.  All sorted

Glad you sorted it out! Handling these moves can be a bit tricky.

Generally, we advise making the moves in Jira Software before making the moves in Jira Align. Otherwise, the work items can get orphaned or stuck in the wrong Program.

Thank you - I have amended my process steps accordingly

Hi Linda,

my spontaneous solution would be to clone the epic and the related stories and move the cloned ones to the new project.

But I'm sure there is maybe a more efficient way to do so, but maybe it helps already :)

Best,

Anja
