We have multiple instances of ADO that we want connected to a single instance of Jira Align. Is there a limit to the number of connectors that can be configured? Are there any performance concerns we should be aware of if we have 20+ connectors?
I've not come across this issue before - and I think it's likely quite a rare occurrence. I'd recommend reaching out to https://support.atlassian.com/contact/ to get this information!
I'd consider trying to merge some of those instances though if possible - it will make it easier to administer/manage in future, both in Align and ADO!

We are a very large organization and have 20 instances of ADO each with 100+ projects. We are trying to rationale some of them but ultimately we will need over a dozen connectors and are concerned about 1) if there is a limit and 2) any performance concerns.
