Can Jira Align be configured to support and report on "sub-products" or subsets of a product?

I guess a better description is a component of a product.  We have work targeted at the component level but as far as I know, there is no way to report on that data in Jira Align.  You have to report on the product as a whole.

@Derwin Roland You can assign a product to a parent product in the product details. There is very limited reporting for products. Reporting for products in Jira Align is limited. The Product Room can be viewed by child products and the Progress By Product report displays the parent product and the child products. Jira Align Enterprise Insights is a good option that will enable you to create your own reports using the Jira Align data with a BI tool like Tableau or Power BI. The Product table in Enterprise Insights has the data that is entered in the Product details screen. If you are interested in Enterprise Insights, your Atlassian Enterprise Advocate can assist you with that.

Hi Derwin,

If you are wanting to track the sub-product at the feature level, you can try leveraging the functional area OTB (Out Of Box) field.  Considerations for using Functional area are that this is a single select field, it is a program specific definition, can be managed by non-admins and it is available for selection in the global config bar. If you are looking for a cross portfolio wide field where the sub-product listings are maintained by the admin, your best bet might be a custom field (unless of course the product field is an open option here).
