I recently installed the JIRA HipChat Discussions add-on to take it for a test drive. The team decided that this add on is not beneficial so I uninstalled it. However, the "HIpchat Discussions" section is still showing on every JIRA ticket. I did a reindex after uninstalling. How do I get rid of this unwanted functionality?
There are 3 plugins that you need to disable to be able to remove HipChat integration entirely.
base-hipchat-integration-api
base-hipchat-integration-plugin
hipchat-for-jira.
If you disable those 3 that is all.
BUT, and this is a BIG BUT...you need to be 100% sure that you've never set a workflow with the HipChat Trigger, if you did then JIRA will be unable to start.
I do not wish to disable the basic JIRA plugins for hipchat. These I believe are supported by Atlassian.
I am referring only to the "JIRA HipChat Discussions" add on. This is not formally supported.

There was an addon called "HipChat Discussions" which we do not support, and that one is an old addon relying on the old type of connection.
I think the panels have the same name.
Can you post a picture of the panel so I can see which of the addons is generating the panel?

See attachment. When I disabled "HipChat Discussions" the function in the red circle, labled "HipChat Discussions", went away (which is good because I couldn't get it to work via configuration) but the functions in the purple circle, labled "HipChat discussions" (lowercase 'd' on this one), did not go away.

OK Perfect, just what I thought then.
The red circle is the HipChat Discussions plugin : https://marketplace.atlassian.com/plugins/jira-hipchat-discussions-connect/cloud/overview. You can remove that addon
The purple circle is the Atlassian supported plugin. To remove the purple one you need to disable the addons I said in my previous comments. Or, you could remove the view like I show below.
You have 2 different plugins that are shown here.

How does one disable the HipChat Discussion section for all users in an out-of-the-box JIRA Cloud instance? The only HipChat add-ons are System Add-ons and there is no option to disable those.

Same problem here: HipChat was installed for a test run on a cloud instance, then removed. This "

section remains on tickets.

Hi @Carlos Khatchikian and team,
I am in the same situation as John and what I did was to disable then uninstall all HipChat related addons (on JIRA and Confluence). All went well up until I had to restart the applications.
What a surprise when I found out that following their respective restart, all HipChat addons were back on the addons list. I repeated the above steps, restarted but again, the addons were back and active.
Any suggestion on how to really and permanently remove HipChat ?
Cheers, Fred

FYI: https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JRA-59594 has been created as a feature request for adding permissions around who can view and perform the "Create Room" action

Thanks for clarifying what belongs to the Discussions plugin versus the standard plugin. I was having trouble grasping the fact that the "Hip Chat Discussions" view was a standard module and not part of the Discussions plugin.
I disabled the modules as you suggested (Thank you for the scren shots) and I believe I am all set.
I wish there was a module for just removing the "Create room" feature rather than having to hide the entire view issue panel but for now I hid the entire panel.
Thank you so much for your help Carlos!
