How do I turn the microphone and camera on again

When I was on my first video/audio chat- I 'un enabled' the camera (and turns out the microphone too).  I thought it was a temporary step just for that chat....now I can't figure out how to turn them back on.  I went to Settings however it won't link me under the drop boxes for camera and mike. Submitted a ticket, but saw this as another avenue for resolution

First an error message box comes up that says they are not available for an unknown reason. When I delete that box and go up to the mike and camera, which are both 'blued' out, and click - nothing happens.

What happens when you try to enable the microphone and camera clicking on the options?
