How do I get the Room Notifications icon to show/appear?

Hi.

I normally see a notifications (bell-looking) icon on each of my rooms, but in this instance the notifications icon isn't rendering in the UI. I've clicked through different rooms and can't get the icon to show/appear. My colleague has the same app version (4.30.0.742) and OS (macOS 10.12.6), and in his instance of the app the icon shows.
