Can you back up FISHEYE_INST with a file-system backup?

I want to back up my Crucible / FishEye data, but I don't really want to use the atlassian-provided backup service to do so. Is it possible to just back up the FISHEYE_INST directory with a standard disk backup tool?

My SQL data is already backed up by Sql Server.

Atlassian support told me:

Yes if you are using an custom FISHEYE_INST directory. Then it should be sufficient to backup FISHEYE_INST and mysql databases.
