Hi,
There are a number of people in our team who have "add" and "delete own" permission to the confluence page as they need to be able to create and delete their own pages in general. So they are granted permission for "Add" and "delete own". However, once the pages have been written and finalised, the space admin likes to protect those finalised pages from deleting by anyone except the space admin. This means that even the page owner or creator who has the "delete own" permission should not be able to delete the finalised pages. Is there anyway to do this without revoking "delete own" permission (because they still need to be able to delete their own pages before finalising)?
I (space admin) have tried the "page restriction" to lock the finalised pages but it seems the creator still can unlock and also delete them (locked by the space admin) even the "restriction" permission is not granted to the creator.
Thanks
Hi @Win
Check Breeze by B1nary. It's a workflow app that allows you to change owners as a part of the workflow and it also takes a slightly different approach to workflows compared to other parts.
There are several other workflow apps in the marketplace and what they all have in common is to ensure that the rules of who can do what and then are built into the system.
These typically work outside of the Confluence owner/creator level.
The idea would be that once the page reaches a certain status, only specific people can start the cycle again (=edit the page). Only specific people can review. Heck, many apps aim at the healthcare and medical manufacturing market which is subject to tough norms and certifications.
Comala has THREE apps (albeit Document Approval is really rudimentary - works for me, though :) ), there's AppFox's Workflows for Confluence, etc.
Mind though, all these apps require spending some time and effort defining the workflow and assigning roles. Good news is there's 30 days trial :)
Hi @Win , welcome to the Atlassian Community and thanks for your question.
Would you be open to an app for this? https://marketplace.atlassian.com/apps/142/comala-document-management
With Comala, for example, you can have an approval process to protect your pages once they are published. You can install the free trial to give it a go.
Best wishes

@Valerie Knapp Can the app prevent editing/deleting pages (by anyone except admin) after approval? Thanks

Hi @Win , I'm not sure. I checked the documentation but I don't see anything about preventing or blocking deletion https://appfire.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/CDMC/overview .
You can email the vendor to ask but at that point, maybe you want an app that is more specifically for managing permissions and not approvals, which is more what Comala is for.
I'm not really aware of any apps for this, although I'm sure they exist. It might be possible to do something with an automation. Do you have Confluence premium? https://support.atlassian.com/cloud-automation/docs/create-automation-rules-in-confluence/
