Some communities are invite-only, usually the early-access stuff that Atlassian don't want everyone to see, only volunteers.
You'll need to question the person or place that pointed you to it, see if they can let you in, or find someone who can.
Yes, early access program groups are usually private—only those participating can join. For Automation specifically, that EAP is closed at this time.
