Windows networked computers cannot access Confluence.

Robbie Lee January 1, 2012

I have installed Confluence on a Windows XP, 32-bit computer. This computer can access the wiki at http://localhost:8090 or at http://192.168.1.7:8090. However, computers in the same workgroup/network cannot access the site. I have turned off my Windows and McAfee firewalls. I have a Verizon wireless router. I tried port forwarding, but that hasn't worked. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I hope to purchase Confluence if I can remedy this situtation.

It ended up being an issue with McAfee. Even though I had uninstalled it, not everything was removed. So I used the McAfee Consumer Product Removal tool and then everyone could connect.

I'd suggest checking if the other computers can reach your Confluence host at the first place. Try using ping or telnet to the IP address from the other machines to verify.
