I'm facing some unexpected behavior on Confluence Cloud after deleted a user
Steps
- Go to `Administrations` -> `Confluence` -> `Manage Users`
- Click on a user
- Click `...` then click `Remove User`
Expected Behavior
- The user is removed from the list of users (both active and inactive)
- The user's personal data is removed, and the user's name is replaced with `Former User`
Actual Behavior
- The user is removed from the list of users (both active and inactive)
- The user's profile picture and name remain.
- The user's name now has "Unlicensed" next to it but the user doesn't exist. An error appears when hovering over their profile picture
- Clicking on the user's name takes you to a page that does not exist
It has been two months since the user was removed
I need the user's name and profile picture to be removed for privacy reasons :)
How do I make that happen?
Thank you!
@Support User Welcome to the Atlassian community
I am making the assumption that you are using Atlassian to manage accounts. If you are you can delete the account at the organization level. This will remove their name in Confluence. Here is a link to KB to help you out. https://support.atlassian.com/user-management/docs/delete-a-managed-account/
Hi @Brant Schroeder!
Thank you for your swift response 🙇♂️
Unfortunately this is not a managed account!
It's an external atlassian account that has been completely removed from all of our attlassian products :)
I've even exported a list of users (active and inactive) and their name/user_id are in the list of exported users
Do you have any further guidance on how to deal with this situation?

@Support User are you on a paid plan? Have you submitted a support issue yet? I am not aware of a way to get rid of this in Cloud for non-managed accounts.

Are we able to submit support issues if we're on the free plan? 😊

@Support User On a free plan you are not able to submit support issues. I was thinking about this a little more, since the user is not managed then their account would still exist even after you remove it from your instance. Cloud currently does not have a way to deidentify users like data center does. So you might be stuck at this time.

@Support User if this answer was helpful can you please accept the answer?
