When Rest Api is used to version a new attachment the attachment stops displaying in the page body

Dallas Elliott January 15, 2021

When a new attachment version is submitted through the user interface the attachment loads no problem in the body of the page.

As of yesterday 1/14/2021 when I version a new attachment through the Atlassian Rest Api the attachment uploads fine and is downloadable but will not render in the page body. (This has been working for 8 months no issues)

'/rest/api/content/{page_id}/child/attachment/{attachment_id}/data'

When I query the attachment details with

/rest/prototype/1/content/{page_id}/attachments

The response is identical for the manual upload and the upload using the Rest API.

Hello @Dallas Elliott!

As I understand, after a file version is created via REST API the attachment is not rendered.

I tried to replicate this but, was unable to.

With this in mind, I would like to ask you a few questions. Here we go:

  1. What is displayed in the place where the affected attachment should be?
  2. Is this happening in different pages in your Confluence Site?
  3. Is this affecting different file types?
  4. What happens if you create another attachment version via User Interface?
  5. If you open the browser console before loading the page and then load the page, is there any error present there?

Also, would it be possible for you to share a screenshot of the affected attachment so we can see what is displayed? Please, be sure to not disclose any sensitive data with this screenshot. Our Community is an open space and everyone can see everything that is posted here.

Let us hear from you!

    • Yes any page using the rest api to upload an attachment
  • Is this affecting different file types?
    • Unknown we're only displaying images
  • What happens if you create another attachment version via User Interface?
    • Everything works fine, as expected, image renders
  • If you open the browser console before loading the page and then load the page, is there any error present there?
