Hello,
We updated our confluence system from version 5.5 to version 5.7 . Now when looking at the system with an internet explorer version 9 and above some images are not shown anymore. No problems with firefox and chrome.
With the ie and the dev console (F12) we get the error messages like this:
DOM7009: Unable to decode image at URL:"<our domain>/confluence/download/thumbnails/5832968/together.png?version=2&modificationDate=1409922397294&api=v2"
only issue i can find was IE11] When loading large number of images, images begin to fail to load in IE11 with DOM: 7009 error (unable to decode) in console but the page is only 2.47MB it is not so big. and there are only a few images to load (<= 20)
Is there an issue with confluence? Do someone know the problem or can provide a solution?
Thanks
Thomas Friedrich
Hi guys. It was me who initially asked that question (internally). And indeed, compatibility view, that's it, thanks for the (obvious) hint!
I should have known it already...
Hello Thomas,
We have seen similar issues happening with Confluence not handling some formats of image compression. Please attempt to open the image with your favourite image editor and saving it with different compression types in e.g.: jpeg, gif, png, bmp. If that does not work, you can also attempt to change the color schema CMYK<->RGB
.
Please post to this with your findings, so we can continue to provide assistance.

Changed image format from JPG to PNG. It worked for me. Thanks.

Hi, Thomas. Are you running IE in compatibility mode? Confluence doesn't support compatibility mode, since it may cause problems because it emulates older, unsupported rendering modes.
