Typing into a page view panel

I would like to be able to type data into a panel or something similar while still in page view. I've been able to find this type of capability using an excel-like table app but I can't find it anywhere else. I am trying to minimize or eliminate the need to go into edit mode for the page.

@Brent J Barcus I am not sure if you know, but the Confluence team is working on a new "live edit" experience for pages. In nutshell, it means that there is no difference between a "view" and "edit" mode!

It may be the right solution for your problem.
