Translate search text before searching in confluence

Mark Mawson April 16, 2020

We have users across Europe and our ServiceDesk support articles are mostly in English.

As users have the language option set to their local language they see all pages translated.

When they search they enter the search string in their local language.

Can Confluence recognise the local language is not the default Confluence language and translate the search string to the default language before searching ?

If yes then we can standardize all our pages on one language (the default one) but support search and display in all languages required.

Limitations of language packs or browser native translation capabilities accepted

Hello Mark,

Welcome to Atlassian Community. It's nice to meet you!

Confluence doesn't have any built-in translation ability. The current Confluence UI translations available were created specifically for use with Confluence and thus the translations are already confirmed.

There are a few add-ons related to translations available in Marketplace. I would recommend having a look at those and see if any of them can help you.

I'm going to go ahead and move your question over to the Marketplace collection, in the event that anyone has some 3rd-party workarounds to recommend to you.

Regards,

Shannon
