Search for XYZ but not XYZs

Confluence server, not sure the version, whatever the latest is at time of writing.

I'm trying to search across projects for pending review pages.  I'm trying to include "Review" but not "Reviews".

I've tried:

Review NOT Reviews (no results)
"Review" NOT Reviews (no results)
"Review" -Reviews (no results)
Review (results include Reviews, no good)

The actual search I need is a bit more complex, but I thought if I could figure out how the above works, I could maybe get the rest from there.

What I really need is:

There's two formats in the title:
2020-01-01 Review
2020-01-01 Review (L)

The date is variable. I want the version without (L).  This almost works, expect it includes Reviews as well:

Review NOT (L)

If I can get "Reviews" (parent page) removed from the results of the above, I'd have what I need!  Thanks

As usual, just after posting the question I figure it out.  After 45 minutes of trying:

title:/.*Review.*/ NOT /.*Reviews.*/ NOT (L)
