Restricted page

Hi if you restrict a page , normal users are unable to upload files\attachments\screenshots correct?

So if you remove the restriction they can upload add files\attachments etc , but that then allows them editor rights to that page which is something I do not want, is there another work around?

The goal is to restrict the page from being edited from normal uses but allow them to upload files\attachments\screenshots to that page..!!

Correct, an edit restriction stops people making any changes to a page - edits and attachments.  It's bluntly black and white, no in-betweens.

You can do this though.  Set up some groups (I'll try to keep this simple and use groups as an example):

  • Can log in (you probably already have this)
  • Normal users
  • Authors

In your space, set the permissions for these groups

  • Can log in:  View
  • Normal users:  View, add attachments
  • Authors: View, add pages, add attachments

You will find "normal users" and "authors" can attach files and screenshots etc, but only Authors will be able to create or edit pages.

But bear in mind that the permissions will hold in place across the space. So if your intention was to only have a page with those restrictions, this solution is more broad that your request. Otherwise this is solution you need.

That is very true.

If your needs are more varied, with normal users able to edit some pages and so-on, you need to start thinking about structuring the pages into separate spaces, and maybe using "include" to draw things in from other spaces that have different permissions.
