Not all watchers get notification mails

We use Confluence 3.1. - Yes, we should update, but that's not the point.

Some watchers of a site do not get notification mails. In the watcher overview their accounts are red (see attached picture ).

Has anybody a clue?

Could you check if the users that receive no notifications have email address set properly? Could you also check the mail queue and mail error queue at Confluence Admin to see if there you can find any clue?

It's worth checking if sending a test email from Confluence Admin works for the specific user's email address, if not, check the logs while trying to send the test mails. Checking the mail server logs could also give more clues.
