We are testing the migration from confluence server to the cloud. As we used many user macros we get errors like "Unknown macro: xxx" for all references to user macros. It seems one cannot edit the references to unknown macros?
So what can one do? Is it possible to delete these references? Can one recover the parameter data for the user macros?
I'm afraid all you can do is delete the macros from the pages by editing them out.

@Nic Brough -Adaptavist- We just migrated to cloud, is this still an issue? If so, are there any third party apps that would work well for this?

Hi Jason,
No. There is nothing you can do here other than remove the macros. User macros are not supported on Cloud. Even when an app that provides a macro implements one the same on Cloud as it does on Server, it is different code and may work very differently.
