Looking to enable bi-directional editing between google documents and confluence

We use google workspace as well as confluence and jira. Some documentation is more easily created in google docs though I would like to embed docs, sheets, forms, and other things in confluence pages though I do not want to have to update them in multiple places.

Are there integrations that support bi-directional editing?

Thank you!

Hi @Ellen Grace Henson ,

No need to install add-ons for interactive Google Docs and Sheets embeds.  They are supported natively.  Just paste the Google link in the Confluence editor and choose "Display as embed":

For the full editing experience you still need to navigate to the doc/sheet directly.

The embed for Google Slides is slightly different, it only supports "presentation" view, which lets you navigate through the slides.

Google Form embeds are not supported at this time.

Hi @Andrew Dildy !

Do you happen to know what level of access does one need to see "Display embed"?
(When I paste a Google Docs URL into a Confluence page, I am seeing options to Display URL, inline, and card only.)

Also, is there a specific edition of Confluence that you need for embedding?

If you embed, do you have to click through to the Google file to edit it, or can you edit it (even if minimally) directly from Confluence?

Thank you!

I experiemented with embedding a complete google sheet and found that some bi-directional editing is possible I can group rows and columns, I can change the content of a cell -- though I don't seem to be able to change cell colors

Hi @Ellen Grace Henson

Welcome to the community!

There are some you can find in MarketPlace:

You may also be able to do it using iframe, however keep in mind opening up your instance in such away does pose security risks. I do not see any that are part of the security program atlassian has.

that is an example of one, but I personally would advise against it from a security standpoint. Atlassian has certified cloud apps for a reason and if they don't have those tags, even if the app is updated frequently, there are security risks.
