Is there a way to paste links so that they open up a new page or window, rather than replacing the confluence page?

hi @Michael Temblador - welcome to the community!

There is a way to do this, but only if you are running Confluence 3.0.1 on servicer and data center platforms,  and are an administrator. Here is an article explaining how to do it:

Another option is to put a note next to the link or at the beginning of your page advising users to use hotkeys when clicking on the link.
