JIRA users can't see public Confluence pages/spaces (viewable by anonymous users)?

Iñigo Alonso March 17, 2014

When logged in JIRA users try to browse Confluence pages that have the permissions set to allow Anonymous Access, they are presented with this error:

Not Permitted

You are not permitted to perform this operation.

Having to unlog from JIRA to view the page and then having to log in again slows their workflow, and more importantly, pisses them off. Is there a way to avoid this? We just want them to be able to view the pages.

All I can think of is teaching the users how to right-click and open in incognito mode the confluence links.

The following bug was reported about users without Confluence application access that cannot see Confluence pages with anonymous access: https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/AOD-6604

Feel free to vote, comment and watch the issue for updates.

At the moment, the only workaround is to browse Confluence from another browser (without Jira session) or using Incognito mode.

Mauro

Can users browse Confluence normally or they don't have confluence access at all?

Could you please create a support request at support.atlassian.com ?

We'll then be able to take a closer look and understand if you are experiencing a bug or maybe some configuration problems.

Regards,
Mauro

The users in question have Access to JIRA but not Access to Confluence, we have more JIRA than Confluence licenses. The users with Access to Confluence can use it without a glitch, but those whitout access can't even view the "public" pages while logged in.

I think it is not a configuration problem or a bug, but a matter of how permissions work.

Cheers,
Inigo

Has this issue been resolved? Our company really needs JIRA users to have access to view only Confluence.
