Is there a systematic approach to abbreviations?

Is in Confluence available a systematic approach to abbreviations?

I would like to offer an easy way clarify an abbreviation. For instance, if I use CPU in text I would like to offer a reader a hint available on mouse over event - Central Processor Unit.

Of cource, I can create a page with all abbreviations clarified and make a link to that page each time the abbreviation is used. But it would probably disrupt the readers' flow.

Not out of the box, but you can write a usermacro that can do so.

Just pass the explanation as parameter and use an abbr-tag. Should be relativly easy.
