How to remove confluence-administrators from global permissions?

This question is in reference to Atlassian Documentation: Global Permissions Overview

We just test the new major release 6.0.2 and discovered that there are some differences between in place upgrade and clean install:

  • We started with version where we removed the confluence-administrators group and replaced it with a custom group from our active directory. After the upgrade to 6.0.2. all settings are as prior the upgrade: no confluence-administrators group is present.
  • When doing a fresh installation of confluence 6.0.2, the confluence-administrators group cannot be removed at all.

Can you please give a reason why this group has been made mandatory? Do we need to add it again in case we want to proceed with the upgraded version?

Hi Andreas,

Always must be at least one administration group.

Try to add your custom group to the global permissions, and then, try again to remove confluence-administrators.

Did not succeed: Neither with an active directory group nor using the build in 'confluence-users' ticking all boxes.
