It's very easy to attached documents, and leave them avalaible for people to use. However, when you only one to have the latest version avalaible and eliminate previous documents to avoid confusion for users, I can't find a way to do it. Can anyone help?
It was a case of not scrolling right and seeing the delete button there
I just cannot find that delete button anywhere. mind boggling how it can be so difficult.

I've repeatedly got this question from users, ALL of them claimed that one cannot delete page attachments.
(They were trying to delete attachments while in the Editor. Unfortunately, the Delete button doesn't show up in the Editor. Instead, you need to go to the target page and use Tools -> Attachments.)

Go to your space permissions. There is a permission to add and remove attachments. Be sure you have both if you need to delete attachments.

are you uploading the same file with the same name over and over with updated content? Confluence should just be keeping the old copies in its version control but pointing to the newest file you uploaded.
If the above is not the case what is stopping you from deleting the old attachments (if not permissions)?
