How to install 3rd part SSL certificate for onprem confluence data center

Vijaya Anand August 23, 2022

Hi,

Currently we run on-prem Atlassian confluence data center which runs on HTTP, we want to host it on HTTPs and have the wildcard certificate procured from Digicert.

Can you please provide me how to go about, i followed the article and post installing the site is not working now.

I would recommend you install a proxy server and terminate SSL there.  Atlassian has a doc on how to set up Apache as a proxy.

One benefit is that you don't need to run Tomcat as root/administrator in order to listen to port 443.  It's a lot more secure if you run Tomcat as an unprivileged user and let the proxy deal with binding to 443 securely.
