How to create a link to the current version of a page, not the latest version

Mark Sapossnek July 22, 2021

We use both Jira and Confluence. We'd like to link our stories to a specific version of a Confluence page. It will usually be the current version of the page, but we want the link to always go to that version, even if newer versions of the page are published.

A story is usually written against the current version of the page, so it should be linked to that version.

However, while it's possible, I don't see an easy way to get a version-specific link to the current version of a page.

For example, I have a page with 2 versions. If I go to Page History and copy a link to an older version of the page I get exactly what I want:

https://covaris.atlassian.net/wiki/pages/viewpage.action?pageId=902561793&pageVersion=1

But if I copy a link to the current version, I get this, which always goes to the current version:

https://covaris.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/S1/pages/902561793

I can get what I want by modifying the first link to specify version 2:

https://covaris.atlassian.net/wiki/pages/viewpage.action?pageId=902561793&pageVersion=2

Is there a simple way to create a version-specific link to the current version of a page?

Hi @Mark Sapossnek

Your approach to get the link is the best. I do not know any other option.

You have to modify the URL.
