Does Atlassian have any suggestions.

In the plugin settings for the WebDav Office Connector, allow authentication settings in the URL path must be turned on. It seems basic authentication is not supported by Microsoft, but allowing the authentication settings to pass before attempting to open the file fixes the problem.

Hi, refer to https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/CONFKB/'Edit+in+Word'+Requires+Login+or+Doesn't+Work+at+All for more information.

It looks like the operating system you have used disabled basic authentication when you do not support SSL. You will need to add SSL to fix this or to change the registry settings to allow for normal HTTP request.
