Does the free version of Confluence with no add ons include Analytics besides "page hits"?

Steven Dunkleberger August 1, 2024

Interested in Analytics by page and seems like only page hits is the main measures (not interested in who the users are)....does the free version provide any metrics besides page hits (e.g., number of downloads, bounce numbers, etc)?

The Better Content Archiving and Analytics app collects analytics, it has a Free tier (up to 10 users) with the full functionality and it works on any Confluence tier (also including Free). All in all, you can get analytics and reports for completely free if you are a smaller team!

Events are collected for pages and blogs:

...and then it provides a set of dashboards that aggregate and visualize this information per space or for the whole Confluence site or per users:

(Discl. it is a paid and supported app developed by our team.)

Hi @Steven Dunkleberger

As @Dan Breyen explained, Free and Standard versions only have limited analytics.

There are apps that can help.

(On a side note, you cannot make your Confluence Free content available to unlicensed users - there's no anonymous / public access option. So if you're interested in that, you need Scroll Viewport  which comes with built in Google Analytics integration)

Thanks for responding...I have a follow up question...my company doesn't allow any add-ons as it's a Gov't contractor...so we're stuck with the free version of Analytics...but my question is using the free version, there's a feature of counting "unique views' which equates to unique users...but it appears that it might count only those who have a Confluence account and anybody else is called "anonymous"...is that your understanding that unique views would show anonymous users as a single user?    If yes, anonymous is counted as a single user, is there a way to identify them w/o having a Confluence account?

@Steven Dunkleberger The Free version does not allow for Anonymous access, so you don't need to worry about distinguishing anonymous users.

For the features available in each plan lever, see https://www.atlassian.com/software/confluence/pricing.

Hi @Steven Dunkleberger welcome to the community.  That appears to be what you get.  I see if you upgrade to Premium or Enterprise, you get a few more options.  See this article for more information about that.  I'm guessing there are several add on options from third parties, but I'm using the out of the box product.

Turns out we have data center non cloud instance and is not free. Does data center have another level besides premium and enterprise that is not free?  Currently our version doesn't have measures for attachments so it must not be premium or enterprise. Thanks
