Does the Database support autoincrement on a column with integers

Peter Melichar FJD January 26, 2025

Hello,

I just started using databases in Confluence and I wonder if there is an autoincrement function available for fields of type numbers. I was not able to find anything about such a function by now.

Welcome @Peter Melichar FJD

Sadly no. I believe that you are talking about something similar that you have in Excel,but this something that Confluence do not support.

Hello @Nikola Perisic

thank you for responding so quick. I consider autoincrement not only a function available in Excel, we use it in MariaDB for our own product, and we can set the starting point from where the DB carries the numbers forward.

Just as Jira increments the Ticket IDs.

My use case is independent on Jira, as I like to have a DB where I can track sub-IDs which I have to assign. Sure, I can check and assign them manually, but an autoincrement would make it easier.

I wonder if I am the first to ask for such a feature.

@Peter Melichar FJD

I understand your use case now. Auto increments are not supported for Confluence tables.

Are there any plans on the roadmap for the DB to support such a function in the future?
