Desactivated user

Ghofrane KHALI September 30, 2024

Hello,

One of our colleagues, who is now deactivated, locked their Confluence pages, and we need to modify the content. As a space admin, I tried removing their access, but I wasn’t able to.
Is there a way to regain modification access to those pages given the user is deactivated?

Thanks

Hi @Ghofrane KHALI welcome the the Atlassian Community!

  1. Navigate to the Restricted Page:
    • As a space admin, go to the page in question.
  2. Check Current Restrictions:
    • On the page, click the padlock icon at the top right of the page to view current restrictions.
  3. Modify Restrictions:
    • Space admins can edit the restrictions by clicking on the "Edit Restrictions" button.
    • From here, they can either:
      • Add users or groups to the page restrictions.
      • Remove the restriction entirely.
  4. Remove the Restriction:
    • If desired, space admins can remove all page restrictions, making the page editable by all users who have access to the space.

Important Notes:

  • Space admins cannot directly bypass restrictions to edit the page if they themselves are restricted. However, by modifying the restrictions, they can give themselves (or others) the necessary permissions.
  • Once a space admin modifies the restrictions, they can gain the ability to view or edit the page as needed.

Hi @Ghofrane KHALI ,

Have you tried:  adding yourself with page access, and after this removing the page access of the deactivated user?
