Deleting Personal space fails - Long running task error

Heily Hindrea August 8, 2013

Hello!

Confluence version 5.1.3

A user wants to delete her Personal Space but it fails with "Long running task: Space removal long running task". "Could not find attachment folder to remove at."

I searched for an answer and came across this site in Atlassian Confluence Knowledge Base.

Could this be the solution? And what causes that kind of error?

Found also this source. In the log the last one listed 'org.springframework.dao.DataIntegrityViolationException' was found. But on the site it is said that this problem was fixed for Confluence 4.1.2.

Cheers

Heily

If you're hitting problems, you might find it helpful to clear the trash for the space before removing it. On earlier versions of Confluence this helped us get around the issue of "missing attachments" a few times. The attachments in this case belonged to pages which were in the trash.

Thank you! I already contacted Atlassian Support also and they are dealing with it. Seems that something has went wrong in the database.

Hi Heily,

If the error in your logs matches that error in the article, then that is very likely the solution. As mentioned in the article, if there is data inconsistency - which could be the problem (missing attachments) - then confluence hangs on trying to delete those things when deleting the space. You'll need to confirm that is the error message in the atlassian-confluence.log file. If you confirm it, follow the instructions in the article. ENSURE you have database backups before manually manipulating the database in any way.
