Hello All, I have conlfuence export taken from data centre instance which is in XML or HTML format. We have used Cloud Migration Assistant for Confluence app to export space in XML/HTML.
Now i have another cloud instance and I want to import these XML/HTML file.
I am using confluence administraion --> Import spaces -->
It has three options as below in screen. first options talks about generating exports from server which I already have so I beliece now i need to use third option .
Third option only expects single file. if I choose HTML single file ( any ) - it says uploaded but when i say import , I get error "Import failed"- Do I need to create space in advance. How does this work ? Can someone please guide me step by step?
Thanks,
Naziya
This extensive document should guide thru the process (the part that's relevent for you might be further down towards the middle of the page)
Having said that, as far as I remember, you need to import the XML file, HTML file will not work.
Important: make sure that there's no space in your Cloud with the identical space key as the space you want to import from DC. It will fail as space keys must be unique.
Thank you. Issue was I needed to import zip file and not unzipped. I did import XML file. Problem is that first space did not appear after successful import , i did recover permissions from confluence admin but now every page content is coming under restricted. None of the pages are visible. Users who have view and edit permission under restricted category are outside of the organization. Locks are disabled for me to unlock these pages. How do I make space pages visible?

One of the migration steps features the option to migrate users and user group which, I believe, does resolve the permissions.
Anyway.... there is a way.
In your cloud side, download Pages Manager for Confluence - it's a free app.
It allows you to change the permissions of pages in bulk.
This is the UI with two spaces loaded.
In this video, you see the I change the restrictions from only I can edit to Everyone can edit. Then I position the cursor on the restriction field of the page, do CTRL-C (Command-C on Mac), select other pages in the space, paste the value and bang, you applied restrictions setup from one page to all selected pages.

Thank you everyone. I was able to work with atlassian support. Trick is use command key on every lock that you see in space and it did unlock .
