Confluence Backup Upload via webDAV

Robert Batzloff July 17, 2014

Hi,

I'm trying to relaunch a site backed up on 8.15.2013 vie webDAV. I've zipped the entire back up and tried over and over again but it keeps telling me it can't find an entry: 'exportDescriptor.properties'.

This seems unlikely because I know that entry is in the zipped folder. Below is the error I'm receiving. Please direct me to a solution.

Thank you,
R.

The zip file did not contain an entry 'exportDescriptor.properties'. It contained: backup-2013_08_15/, backup-2013_08_15/attachments/, backup-2013_08_15/attachments/10092562/, backup-2013_08_15/attachments/10092562/10223617/, backup-2013_08_15/attachments/10092562/10223617/1, __MACOSX/, __MACOSX/backup-2013_08_15/, __MACOSX/backup-2013_08_15/attachments/, __MACOSX/backup-2013_08_15/attachments/10092562/, __MACOSX/backup-2013_08_15/attachments/10092562/10223617/, __MACOSX/backup-2013_08_15/attachments/10092562/10223617/._1, backup-2013_08_15/attachments/10092587/, backup-2013_08_15/attachments/10092587/10223618/, backup-2013_08_15/attachments/10092587/10223618/1, __MACOSX/backup-2013_08_15/attachments/10092587/, __MACOSX/backup-

Looks like you'll have to upgrade the local Confluence before importing to OnDemand.

Are you following: Importing a Confluence Site ?

Here is the guide on Upgrading Confluence

and maybe you find some more info on this previous answer

Hope that helps :)

Cheers!

Again, thank you for your quick response.

I'm using Confluence onDemand on a Mac. Does an onDemand account require updating? How can it be done manually?

To note, the last link posted led to a 404 error.

Thanks again!

From what I can tell, the version I am trying to upload is not compabtible with the onDemand account I have. I believe the previous confluence account had Jira and other features that my current onDemand account does not and I think this is what's prohibiting me from uploading my backup.

How can I see what version my back up is and/or what features it has?

The files inside the Zip backup say the version of the backup but all applications links and features you had previously shouldn't restrict you from importing.

OnDemand performs upgrades automatically so it is always at the latest version. Some versions are so far behind that can't be imported directly to OnDemand, they first need to be upgraded to a version that OnDemand can handle.

The guide Upgrading Confluence explains how to do so. The section "Step 1 Determine your upgrade path and method" has more information on that.

Note: the last link on the previous comment is now working again.

Cheers!

Hi Robert,

The problem is that the Zip doesn't have the files in the root directory of the zip. The zip contains a folder named backup-2013_08_15/ and the files inside. Try creating the ZIP again placing the contents of the folder directly in the root of the ZIP. You can do that by selecting the files, instead of selecting the folder, and clicking on ZIP.

Cheers!
Mauro

Thanks Mauro,

That helped but now it says "Your backup cannot be imported with this version of Confluence OnDemand. Please see the information below for help."

I've looked at how to uprgade but under general configuration I can't find Atlassian Support Tools > Health Check. If you have another amazing answer to save the day I'd love to hear it.

Thanks again.
