Hi all,
We are using the old version(2.8.1) of clonfluence where is installed on linux system that is running within the java. Thus we would like to upload all of our data to the cloud area, but when i try to upload a exported space, so i am getting the following messages from the confluence cloud panel !
"The current Confluence OnDemand accepts back-ups from version 5.3 and newer releases"
Anyway , we need to upload our confluence data which is stored in old version of confuence, but it is under the 5.3 version. What can we do to upload all these data(space based or site based) in cloud area of confluence ?
Thanks in advance.
Hi Ugur,
you need to bring your local confluence to at least version 5.3. So you need to to a migration.
I'm not sure, because it's a long time ago I last migrated from 2.x.
But I think, you need the following steps:
Migrate your Confluence through the following versions:
2.8 -> 3.5 -> 4.3 -> 5.0 -> 5.3 or 5.4
Maybe you can skip some steps, but if you get exceptions during one migration step, you should add an extra step with a confluence version between the two versions of your step. Take care, that all versions of your migration path are using the same confluence home directory and backup your data before you start migrating. If it's not working with the internal backup, try a database backup and make a copy of your confluence home directory.
Hi William,

Hi Ugur,
You might want to take a look in this documentation that explain how to do a full XML export in the current version that you're in 2.8.X:
https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/CONF28/Site+Backup+and+Restore
I hope this helps.
Cheers,

Hi Ugur,
As describe on our documentation here:
https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/AOD/Importing+a+Confluence+Space
It is necessary to upgrade the Confluence source to the mentioned release version in order to import it to our OnDemand environment. I suggest you to create a staging environment to upgrade your Confluence instance so the space export can be imported successfully.
Hope it helps.
Cheers,
Septa Cahyadiputra
