Can merge tags be used in a confluence page?

Hi,

I have a question around the capabilities of a Confluence page.

More specifically, if it's possible to use Merge Tags.

Our requirement is the following.

1. To be able to store User specific data (such as an External ID) on the user profile.
2. To be able to use a Merge Tag that will be comprised of two components: the URL + the External Id. For example, the merge tag would look like this https://www.google.com/{!UserID} and what is actually displayed on the page will be https://www.google.com/000Q12441WFaffs5 (something like that).

Is this possible at all? If not perhaps something similar.
