About page authority inheritance and inheritance

青山 明 January 13, 2022

I have a question about page authority inheritance and inheritance. Even if you remove the edit permission of the parent page and only the read permission is set, the edit permission remains on the child page, but is it possible for the child page to inherit the permission of the parent page and inherit it to only read? Also, is it possible to do it manually or automatically?

Hi @青山 明

View restrictions are inherited from parent pages to child pages whereas Editing restrictions are not inherited from page to page

Unlike view restrictions, if someone is restricted from editing on a parent page, they'll still be able to edit on any child page, unless they're restricted from editing on the specific child page. This is set manually by the page creator. You can read about it in detail on this documentation

Hi @青山 明 ,

in addition to @Kishan Sharma  answer you can also consider using an app which can do this. Our app Edit Permission Inheritance e.g. provides such a functionality.

Best regards

Andreas

Thank you for your advice. Can this product be combined with JIRA automation? Currently, I am trying to automatically control permissions using automation and API.
