When making a GET request, some text comes back with a bunch of @@@ inserted into the values. Any way to fix this?

This is an existing project and I'm trying to implement a search feature into it.
Here is my call:
https://mysite.atlassian.net/wiki/rest/api/search?cql=space=CCSD and text ~ 'reports'
In my response for the excerpt key value I get:
"@@@hl@@@Reports@@@endhl@@@ Release - July 05, 2018\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nNew @@@hl@@@Reports@@@endhl@@@\n\nSales ... "
