How to create Jira issues from Confluence pages with Viable Issues

Thomas Egger April 20, 2021

Confluence users have long wished for a way to easily create Jira issues without having to switch applications. Admittedly, this works with board resources, but the possibilities are limited and cannot be adapted to one’s needs. Viable Issues bridges the gap between Confluence and Jira by neatly integrating the latter into the former from the very start of a task’s lifecycle: the issue creation.

With Viable Issues the creation of new Jira issues becomes easier, faster and goes beyond the default function which only offers a limited number of fields.

Viable Issues displays the create screen of Jira. The fields of the create screen are displayed as a Confluence dialogue for seamless integration.

If the key of the Confluence space matches the key of the Jira project, the correct project is automatically pre-selected, which means no more having to constantly look for and select the right project (though you can still do that, of course). You can speed up the task creation process even more by clicking the “Create another” checkbox. Yay! 🎉

With the additional Page Report macro it is easy to track the issues that were created on the same page. You want to know which tasks emerged from last week’s meeting? No problem, just head back to the meeting notes and check the current progress of the to do’s. This way, your meeting tasks become more manageable and easier to track.

Use-cases where Viable Issues will turn creating tasks in Confluence into your new favourite thing to do:

  • Meeting minutes and notes

  • Project management and innovation

  • Process and quality management

  • Team and department management

  • Enterprise-wide task management

Viable Issues adds the missing button to create Jira issues directly from Confluence.
