📈Analytics +⚡️Automation = 😎

👋 Community! Avinoam from Confluence Automation here again, and this time, I'm super excited to let you know about our first step to allowing you to leverage Confluence Analytics data to trigger automations!

What's available?

As a first step in building a stronger integration between Confluence Analytics and Confluence Automation, we've shipped two new analytics smart values which are also available directly in the new smart values panel for easier finding and usability:

  1. Page total views count: {{page.totalViewsCount}}
  2. Page total viewers count: {{page.totalViewersCount}}

Below you can see where you can find it in the smart values panel in the rule builder and what the actual smart values look like:

How can you leverage this?

For example, a quick use case to start with creating a rule to get notified and add a "popular" label to page when they pass a certain threshold of analytics views - like this:

When it will be available?

This is already live to all Confluence Premium and Enterprise customers!

We want to hear from you!

We’d love your feedback so please feel free to schedule time with us directly here or drop a comment on this post :pray:

Hey @Avinoam - this is great news and I love the step you are making here. Are you planning on expanding on the page analytics? Thinking around last viewed date etc.

The way we would then be able to handle archiving of information would be greatly improved.

What happens on a Confluence site with a large number of pages? How does the user experience scale?

If I understand the rule, then it will send a separate email for each page, correct?

@Avinoam this is amazing! I've waited for a long time to see analytics being integrated with automations. This opens a lot of possibilities for automations like automatically archiving pages which have 0 views.

I hope this isn't the end of the road for the integration and other metrics will also be available :-).

Cheers

Hey all! Short answer is - YES - we're planning on expanding to more analytics support (coming soon...) And also, we know our notifications aren't great in digesting and we have future plans of consolidation there too.

Hi @Avinoam

great news, we're eagerly waiting for features that help us to highlight popular content. Originally we thought of macros for lists of most viewed or trending pages. But I could also imagine to label those pages via automation and then get a list of such-labeled pages.

Is it possible (or planned) to get those most viewed or trending pages with automation?

Hi @Avinoam

thanks for the update. Could you please share a little example how to use it?

To be honest, I don't find any way yet to identify trending pages (pages with most unique views in a given timeframe) or top pages (pages with most unique views over all).
