Hello Atlympians!
Our Community is made up of our endless talented members. Today I'm highlighting Susan Hauth, the "Jira Queen" who was also a former Queen of the ice. I hope you enjoy this short interview with Susan about her athletic past - she's certainly one to look out for in the upcoming Atlympic Games!
What was your sport? At what moment did you know, "Oh, I could potentially go to the Olympics for this
Figure Skating. I don't think I ever focused on the Olympics I just wanted to win every competition I went into and aimed at that.
What was the most important thing you learned as a competitive skater?
Self discipline.
What was your most memorable performance?
I was 12 and going into a provincial competition with 48 competitors. I desperately wanted a dog and talked my parents into if I won could i have a dog. After my performance, my coach went up to my parents and said "bow-wow". I won. 😂
How has being an athlete/the athlete's mindset helped you in your career?
Because I was in a solo sport I was incredibly self-disciplined, self-reliant and confident in my career. BUT being in a solo sport I had to work really hard to become more of a team player in my career.
