why my local symbolic links become text files when pushed to bitbucket?

Hi,

I am moving a git rep from GitHub to bitbucket. Any local symbolic links between directories of my rep. are pushed as symbolic links to using GitHub.

Using bitbucket the same symbolic links become text file containing the path.

What I am doing wrong?
