username.N and role.N query parameters on pull request REST API request not working as expected

I have tried adding these query params to filter out pull requests that are authored by a specific user but can't seem to get them working.  An example of what I have tried is:

https://urltomystashserver/rest/api/1.0/projects/projx/repos/repox/pull-requests?username.1=somename&role.1=AUTHOR

The response gives me all open pull requests regardless of the author name matching what is specified. Is there something incorrect in this approach?
