error during copying a git repo from one account to another

internetyev2 November 24, 2018

I need to transfer a git repo from one account to another.

To do this, I tried to follow this tutorial: https://confluence.atlassian.com/bitbucketserver/importing-code-from-an-existing-project-776640909.html

However, when I am importing an existing Git project into Bitbucket server, and reach the step 5, I receive an error after performing this command:

git push --all bitbucket

Error message:

Failed to connect to bitbucket.org port 7999: Operation timed out

Could you please advise, how to proceed, and what is the reason for this error?

Hi Andrei,

The tutorial you followed is for Bitbucket Server, which is different from Bitbucket Cloud (bitbucket.org).

The tutorial for Bitbucket Cloud lives here: https://confluence.atlassian.com/get-started-with-bitbucket/import-a-repository-861178561.html

I hope this helps, cheers!
