I noticed, that my billing account got converted to free tier, even though I had the payment details added to my account. Please help me understand this, and what should be done so that it doesn't happen again ?

I noticed you have also opened an internal ticket with our billing team to report this issue, and one of our customer advocates is already working with you on that case.
In order to avoid any confusion that may arise from discussing the same issue in multiple places, I would suggest focusing the discussion on the internal ticket.
