Meaning of the warning on top of transfer bitbucket documentation

Dirk Vanhaute July 1, 2024

The documentation about transfering a repository contains a warning that is unclear for me.

If you are an Atlassian Cloud account holder, Atlassian automatically created a Bitbucket Cloud workspace for you when you signed up for Cloud. You must use this workspace as your KEEP_ACCOUNT when merging two Bitbucket accounts.

Is this still valid ?  In our situation, everyone is an Atlassian Cloud account holder.  ( Can you still not be ?  )  We want to split up 5 repositories from our main workspace to a new one.  The first transfer will not be a merge, but the 4 following are by definition merging.

Hello @Dirk Vanhaute ,

thank you for bringing that to our attention.

The warning is no longer applicable as Bitbucket Cloud no longer automatically creates workspaces for users during signup. Bitbucket is also fully integrated with the Atlassian account login, meaning that to use Bitbucket, a user has to be an Atlassian account holder.

As for the repository transfer, any Administrator of the source workspace can initiate a transfer to another workspace.

I will reach out internally to the concerned team to make sure that the document is updated.

Thank you, @Dirk Vanhaute !

Hi Patrik,

We found another descripion in the support KB that could replace the doc.
