How to delete a managed BitBucket account?

Sujit Mohanty December 22, 2023

My BitBucket account was a personal account that was registered with an email address belonging to an Organisation where I previously worked at.

It has been almost a year now since I left that company and thus have no access to the email that I used to sign up for the bitbucket.

Now when I try to change the email address of this bitbucket to a personal email address or even do other administrative functions like trying to delete, it tells me that it is a "managed account".

I don't know how and when this happened. And I have no privilege to be able to identify and contact any admin whomsoever in a personal capacity now,

I request you to please assist me in making this bitbucket account of mine into a non-managed one or mark it for deletion.

Hello @Sujit Mohanty !  Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

A managed account means that the company you used to work for claimed the email domain and controls the email accounts under that email domain.  So, they are the only ones to delete that account or set the account to non-managed.

They never reached out to me before doing so, This bitbucket account was my personal account and I had only given them administrative access to a repository of mine. I don't know how and when they claimed the email or set it to managed ?

What can I do in this case ? I don't work at the company anymore but I need this account deleted or the email address changed.

There really isn't anything you can do.  They "own" the email account.  If they've connected to Atlassian Access with their verified domain, they can see your "rogue" Bitbucket repo/workspace and have chosen to do nothing.
