Hi @anisuzzaman,

At this stage, it is not possible to allow a user to administer only a particular group.

If you can share more details on the desired permission setup, we can try to help with alternatives.

You could also have a look at the 4 Levels of Bitbucket Server Permissions page to learn about the permissions in Bitbucket Server and the available options.

Hi Caterina,

The BitBucket-AD sync is having some issues for last few weeks and we already worked with Atlassian support team to resolve it. For resolution, we need to do some changes in our AD which will take time. Meanwhile the sync process is failing and it is not creating any issues now.

We have a situation now where we need to give 32 users read permission to 10 repos in a single project. It may be done by creating a local group and adding the users to that group & assign appropriate permissions. But the admin of that project wants to administer the project, repo, group and user permission by himself. In other words, user wants to control group membership. So, my query is:
1. Is there any way to give the user the privilege to be admin of that group only to add/modify/delete users (user is already admin of the project)
2. Can we do any bulk import for users association to any particular group? If yes it would require bitbucket admin privilege?

Anis

Hi Anis,

You can manage the permissions by creating groups and using those groups to grant appropriate permissions for the project. Though, to manage the group, the user should have minimum Admin access. With admin access, you may grant more access for that user than required, so you need to carefully evaluate that. Please have a look at the Global permissions - Atlassian Documentation and the permissions are explained in the table.

To answer your specific questions:

  • At the moment, you can NOT give access for a user to manage only one group/specific groups. A project administrator can manage permissions of the project, i.e. can add users/group and specify different permissions levels like Admin/Write/Read etc. So if you don't want to use groups, the project administrator can manage the permissions by adding/removing individual users in Project Permissions.
  • You can do a bulk add to group using REST endpoint, but that still requires Admin privilege. Please see REST Resources Provided By: Bitbucket Server - REST for the end point that can be used.
