what we're looking to do here -- or were looking to do -- was to keep the master branch current

so release --> master

that link goes release --> develop

which does apply , if there was a hotfix on the release branch

but most teams want to control that bug fix accounting themselves

so release --> master is safer

no one doing anything on master
